Ripple has received final approval from U.S. financial regulators to establish a federal trust bank.
Brad Garlinghouse, Ripple’s chief executive officer, said on X on October 26 that the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency had given final approval for the creation of Ripple National Trust Bank.
The approval gives Ripple a foundation to offer digital-asset financial services through a trust bank overseen by federal regulators.
In particular, the company plans to support operations for RLUSD, its U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin, and provide digital-asset custody services for corporate clients. Through that, Ripple aims to strengthen links between its existing blockchain business and regulated financial infrastructure.
Garlinghouse described the approval as an example of cooperation between traditional finance and the crypto industry. “We’ve always said crypto and banks can achieve better outcomes when they work together,” he wrote.
He added that the decision reflected “a combination of real innovation, responsibility and federal oversight” and said “the revolution is happening not outside the existing financial system, but within it.”
