An updated exit poll from Israel’s general election showed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s bloc moving ahead of the opposition.

Reuters reported on October 27 that Israeli broadcaster Channel 12 revised its exit poll to show Netanyahu’s alliance winning 52 seats, compared with 49 for the opposition bloc led by Gadi Eisenkot.

Channel 12 had earlier projected Eisenkot’s camp to win 52 seats and lead Netanyahu’s bloc, but the revised poll reversed the standings.

Exit polls from other broadcasters showed a tie. Public broadcaster Kan 11 and Channel 13 each projected 51 seats for Netanyahu’s bloc and Eisenkot’s bloc.

Still, all three broadcasters’ exit polls showed neither side winning the 61 seats needed for a majority in the 120-seat parliament.

The final vote count could still alter the seat distribution, leaving coalition talks over the next government as a key variable.
