Fandom platform Kyaa said on October 29 that it held “KYAA WAVE,” a fandom community event linking online and offline engagement, as it moves to expand its fandom ecosystem.
At the “KYAA WAVE” event on October 22, Kyaa unveiled its platform operating direction and business plans aimed at supporting sustained interaction between fans and creators. About 70 industry participants from entertainment, creator businesses, content, information technology and gaming attended and discussed changes in the fandom industry and potential collaboration.
Producer Na Young-seok of content studio Egg Is Coming also attended the event. He spoke about the importance of identifying people who genuinely love something. Kyaa said its focus goes beyond simply attracting users and centers on building a community where fans and creators participate voluntarily and form lasting relationships.
The event also featured fan programs linking online and offline participation. Global creator Changha and girl group We;Na connected online fans with the event venue in real time through a TikTok live broadcast. Kyaa also ran participation events and a lucky draw through its own fan page, showing how online fans could take part in an offline event.
Kyaa said it plans to introduce QR code-based visit verification, fan missions and reward features at offline events such as concerts, fan meetings and pop-up stores. It also plans to expand its online-to-offline, or O2O, services so fan participation continues before and after events, turning one-time events into ongoing fandom activity.
In particular, the company is pursuing a service that uses the GIWA blockchain to accumulate fan activity as verifiable digital records. It plans to introduce a “Fan Passport” feature to manage records of livestream attendance, mission participation and visits to offline events. Kyaa said it aims to manage fan participation records transparently through blockchain technology while allowing users to use the service without separate technical procedures.
Based on those records, Kyaa said it plans to build an ecosystem where fan activity extends beyond one-off participation into an ongoing fandom experience. The company also plans to expand “KYAA WAVE” into a regular community event and support collaboration among entertainment companies, creators, brands and technology firms. It aims to broaden activity into areas including discovering new creators, live events, offline fan meetings and brand partnerships.
