A suspect accused of stealing large amounts of digital assets has been extradited from Israel to the US.

Bitcoin.com reported on October 31 that Israeli authorities extradited Alexander Block, a suspect in a digital-asset hack, to the US on October 29. Israel's Supreme Court had earlier rejected Block's appeal against the extradition.

Block is accused of exploiting a vulnerability in the Nomad bridge, which supports the transfer of digital assets across blockchains, and stealing digital assets worth $2.8 million. US prosecutors indicted him in August 2023 on eight charges, including computer crime, transportation of stolen property and money laundering.

Block argued that the transactions used functions built into the system and therefore did not constitute illegal intrusion. Israel's Supreme Court ruled, however, that exploiting a program's vulnerability can also constitute illegal computer intrusion.
