Crypto.com will stop offering services to retail investors in Hong Kong.
Bloomberg reported on Nov. 2 that Crypto.com plans to discontinue its consumer app service for users in Hong Kong starting Feb. 1, 2027.
The company said the decision is intended to streamline its global operations and focus resources on markets that can provide stable long-term growth opportunities.
Crypto.com said it has already notified affected customers in advance and will separately provide procedures for account closures and fund withdrawals. Customer support will continue to help users withdraw their assets smoothly.
The company is not fully exiting Hong Kong, however. Crypto.com is continuing to pursue a license application through its local entity, Foris DAX HK Limited, to operate a virtual-asset trading platform.
The application has been filed with the Securities and Futures Commission and is intended for the operation of Crypto.com Exchange, an institutional investor-focused trading platform rather than its retail app.
As a result, Crypto.com plans to end its retail investor service in Hong Kong while shifting its focus there to institutional clients. Approval of the institutional trading platform, and the timing of any approval, have not yet been determined.
