Binance has disclosed details of the hacking incident behind what it called the largest cryptocurrency theft on record.

Odaily reported on November 3 that Binance, in a preliminary investigation report released that day, said the hackers used fake job interviews to trick an employee into downloading malware.

The attackers then used the infected employee's computer and Binance's internal artificial intelligence tools to access wallet infrastructure. They gained unauthorized access to an internal wallet-signing service and transferred crypto assets out without going through normal withdrawal procedures.

Binance said the attack led to the loss of about 233.46 million XRP, about 970,500 Solana, 44.2 million Optimism and 18,270 Bitcoin.
