President Donald Trump said he would accept the U.S. midterm election results and was willing to work with Democrats.

In an interview with the New York Times on November 3, Trump addressed the Republicans’ poor showing and said he was prepared to accept the outcome, noting that he was not personally on the ballot.

“I’m fully prepared to accept this result,” Trump said. “I will work with the Democrats, and I look forward to working with them.” He added that the two sides could reach agreement on some issues.

Trump also said he had no regrets about backing Republican candidates. He spoke positively about his decisions to support Republican Senator Darlene Graham of South Carolina and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

Based on the election picture provided, Democrats are projected to win both the House and the Senate. Graham was reported to have lost the Senate race, while Paxton was trailing his opponent as votes were counted.

Trump also referred to Senator Lindsey Graham, who died in July. He said Graham would have had a strong chance of winning if he had run in this election.
