Summary

  • Coinbase's decision to delist WBTC was reaffirmed by the court.
  • Coinbase stated that the decision was due to the risk posed by Justin Sun's involvement.
  • The court dismissed BitGlobal's request, respecting Coinbase's internal decision.

Global cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has officially delisted Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), and BitGlobal's request to prevent the delisting has been dismissed.

On the 18th (local time), according to the cryptocurrency media outlet Decrypt, Judge Araceli Martinez, who is in charge of the lawsuit between BitGlobal and Coinbase, stated, "I found no reason to prevent Coinbase from delisting WBTC," dismissing BitGlobal's request.

Previously, BitGlobal filed a lawsuit demanding the prevention of WBTC delisting, claiming that Coinbase unfairly delisted WBTC to favor its own Coinbase Wrapped Bitcoin (CBBTC).

Meanwhile, earlier this week, Coinbase issued an official statement saying, "The delisting of WBTC was decisively influenced by Justin Sun," and "The involvement of companies related to Justin Sun in controlling WBTC poses an unacceptable risk."
