Ethereum (ETH) Layer 2 Mantle (MNT) announced new on-chain finance plans on the 22nd, aiming to launch financial products for institutions and create a sustainable revenue structure.

Mantle stated in a press release, "While we focused on mETH and the Mantle Network in 2024, in 2025, we plan to transform the Mantle Network into a liquidity chain for institutional finance, expand AI-based financial applications, and enhance revenue through the tokenization of Real World Assets (RWA)."

According to Mantle Treasury, Mantle holds a total of $4.3 billion worth of virtual assets as financial assets. The largest holding is its own token, Mantle (MNT), followed by Cook, Athena's USDe, Tether (USDT), and USDC.

Mantle aims to develop into a sustainable hub for on-chain finance based on these financial assets.

Jordi Alexander, Mantle's Chief Alchemist, stated, "The current financial system is inherited from traditional finance and is not designed for the digital generation. Future finance will be on-chain," adding, "Mantle aims to become a sustainable hub building the future of on-chain finance."

Meanwhile, the total value locked (TVL) in products offered by Mantle for the on-chain finance hub is estimated at $5.4 billion.

Specifically, the TVL of Mantle Mainnet reached $2.08 billion, with decentralized finance (DeFi) activities reportedly accounting for most of the mainnet activities.

Following this, Mantle's Ethereum liquidity staking protocol mETH ($1.6 billion) and Mantle's wrapped Bitcoin FBTC ($1.2 billion) were noted.
