"Sam Bankman-Fried Seeking Pardon from Donald Trump"

Sam Bankman-Fried, former FTX CEO who is serving a 25-year sentence for cryptocurrency fraud charges, is reportedly seeking a pardon from U.S. President Donald Trump.

On the 20th (local time), The Block cited an interview between The New York Sun and Sam Bankman-Fried, reporting that he is seeking a pardon from Trump.

Given Trump's precedent of pardoning Silk Road's Ross Ulbricht just two days after taking office, Bankman-Fried's parents, Joseph Bankman and Barbara Fried, are also reportedly working behind the scenes to secure their son's pardon.

Meanwhile, in the interview, Bankman-Fried allegedly claimed that his case was "part of prosecutorial overreach by the Biden administration." He also stated that he was "deeply disappointed with the attitude shown by the Biden administration and the Democratic Party" and that "the Republican Party was much more reasonable," which is interpreted as indirectly revealing his political stance by agreeing with Trump's claims about the Democratic Party's abuse of government power.
