Ethereum (ETH) foundation developers are set to launch a new testnet called 'Hoodi'.
According to The Block on the 13th (local time), Ethereum will launch Hoodi, a new long-term testnet, on March 17. This measure aims to address recent issues with the Holesky and Sepolia testnets and prepare for the Pectra upgrade.
Previously, the Holesky testnet lost finality due to configuration errors during the Pectra upgrade activation process two weeks ago. Although the network has since recovered, it cannot be fully utilized for research purposes. As a result, developers decided to build a new network instead of modifying existing testnets.
Meanwhile, Ethereum's upcoming Pectra upgrade aims to improve Ethereum's scalability and usability, including △reducing Layer 2 data availability costs △significantly increasing staking limits △expanding smart contract and wallet functionality through the introduction of account abstraction.
