Summary
- Prosecutors stated they demanded a 10-year prison sentence for Mr. Kang in the 'courtroom weapon attack' case due to the seriousness of the crime.
- It was reported that Kang suffered losses of about 100 bitcoins due to Haru Investment.
- The defendant's attorney argued that the crime constitutes 'aggravated assault,' claiming it was caused by economic damage and an emotional outburst.

According to industry sources on the 19th (Korean time), prosecutors demanded a 10-year prison sentence for Mr. Kang (52), who was indicted in custody, during the final hearing of the 'courtroom weapon attack' case presided over by the 12th Criminal Division of the Seoul Southern District Court (Presiding Judge Kim Jeong-gon), stating that "the crime is serious and the method of the crime is deplorable."
The sentencing is scheduled for April 4th at 10:30 AM.
Previously in August last year, Mr. Kang, known as a Haru customer, repeatedly stabbed Mr. Lee, the representative of Haru Investment, in the neck with a weapon in courtroom 306 of the Seoul Southern District Court. It was reported that Kang suffered losses of about 100 bitcoins due to Haru.
In the final defense, the attorney stated, "While we acknowledge the stabbing, the defendant possessed the knife through normal means and did not stab fatally enough to cause death, so there was no intent to kill, making it appropriate to consider this as aggravated assault." The attorney continued, "The defendant lost approximately 100 bitcoins (BTC) deposited with Haru and was unable to recover them, suffering serious economic damage that led to despair and frustration, causing an emotional outburst that resulted in the momentary explosion leading to the crime."
