Korbit, a domestic virtual asset (cryptocurrency) exchange, announced on the 26th that it has completed the improvement of its customer identity verification system by introducing an ID copy and forgery detection solution.
Korbit has signed a contract with UsB, a regtech company, for an ID copy and forgery detection solution to strengthen the subscriber identity verification process. As fraudulent cases exploiting non-face-to-face subscription procedures have increased in domestic virtual asset exchanges recently, this solution was introduced to prevent identity forgery and theft.
The ID copy and forgery detection solution analyzes images taken with paper copies, smartphones, and PCs in real-time to determine whether an ID is forged or altered. This effectively blocks fraudulent subscriptions using copies and forged IDs that are not actual IDs.
A Korbit representative said, "With the introduction of this solution, we can now prevent financial crimes involving identity theft, which frequently occur in non-face-to-face transactions," adding, "We will continue to strive for technological innovation to build a safe trading system."
