President Donald Trump of the United States expressed confidence in the rising value of the dollar.

According to Watcher Guru on the 12th (local time), President Trump stated, "The value of the US dollar will become much stronger than ever." This is interpreted as a remark conscious of the recent decline in the dollar's value due to tariff policies.

In fact, as of the 11th, the dollar index, which represents the value of the dollar against six major currencies in the foreign exchange market, fell to 99.01 at one point. It is the first time in 1 year and 9 months since July 2023 that the dollar index has fallen below 100.

Meanwhile, the United States has approved a 90-day tariff freeze for countries that do not retaliate against tariffs and has applied a reciprocal tariff of 10%. China was excluded from the tariff freeze list, and the US applied a 125% tariff on China. In response, China raised its tariffs on the US from 84% to 125%.

Trump wanted Chinese President Xi Jinping to contact him first regarding tariff negotiations, but it is known that China refused. However, Trump stated today that "a positive outcome with China will emerge," raising expectations for progress in talks between the two sides.
