- Trump left open the possibility of additional retaliatory measures against China's tariff increase, but stated he might refrain as it could affect consumer purchasing power.
- It appears that dialogue between the two countries will continue, and the possibility of direct communication with President Xi Jinping was also left open.

U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that a tariff negotiation with China could be concluded within the next 3-4 weeks.
According to industry sources, on the 17th (local time), Trump indicated at an executive order signing ceremony at the White House that "We are in talks with China, and they have reached out multiple times," signaling a move to resume negotiations. He added, "I believe an agreement is possible in about 3-4 weeks."
When asked if talks were continuing despite the imposition of tariffs, Trump affirmed "Of course," and while he avoided giving a clear answer on whether he had communicated directly with Chinese President Xi Jinping, he left room for speculation by saying, "I will be speaking soon."
Meanwhile, when asked if there would be additional retaliatory measures if China raises tariffs on the U.S., he said, "I don't want them to raise (tariffs) higher because at some point it makes people not want to buy," adding, "So I don't want to raise (tariffs) higher or it may not go to that level."
