Summary

  • The US SEC announced that it concluded the investigation into PayPal's stablecoin PYUSD without further action.
  • In November, they requested document submissions regarding PYUSD, but reported that the investigation was concluded in February.
  • This action by the SEC is interpreted as part of regulatory easing, which is related to changes in SEC leadership.

The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has concluded its investigation into PayPal's stablecoin PYUSD.

According to Crypto News on the 30th (local time), PayPal stated the previous day, "The SEC issued a subpoena in November 2023 requesting documents related to PYUSD, but informed us in February this year that the investigation was concluded without further action."

This measure is interpreted as part of regulatory easing due to changes in SEC leadership. Previously, the SEC had halted investigations and lawsuits against major virtual asset (cryptocurrency) companies such as Gemini, Coinbase, Ripple Labs, and Uniswap after Donald Trump took office as President of the United States in January.
