On the 18th (local time), the Canadian Prime Minister's Office stated in a press release, "Building on the summit held at the White House earlier this month, Prime Minister Carney emphasized to Vice President Vance that Canada and the United States are stronger when they cooperate."

It continued, "To this end, they discussed strengthening border security, cracking down on fentanyl (a synthetic drug), increasing defense and security investments, and exploring areas for mutual cooperation. Additionally, the two leaders talked about the need to address current trade pressures and establish new economic and security relationships."

Prime Minister Carney was elected as the leader of the Liberal Party in March and became the Canadian Prime Minister after the party won the general election on the 28th of last month.
