Summary

  • "Gold" was recently cited as having outperformed both "Bitcoin" and the "S&P 500" in terms of "value growth rate."
  • During the same period, while "Bitcoin" rose by about 5%, "Gold" registered a growth rate as high as 26%.
  • The analyst noted that "Gold" is perceived as a safer asset, while "virtual assets" have limitations in price perception due to their "speculative nature" and "volatility."

While the leading virtual asset (cryptocurrency) Bitcoin (BTC) is hovering around $100,000, gold, regarded as a safe haven asset, has surpassed Bitcoin in terms of value growth rate.

On the 9th (KST), Mike McGlone, a Bloomberg analyst, stated on X (formerly Twitter), "Bitcoin has recorded a growth rate of about 5% from last December, when it reached $100,000, to the present," and added, "During the same period, gold achieved a value increase of 26%." The S&P 500 index, which represents the growth rate of 500 large-cap U.S. stocks, saw a negative growth of 1% during the same timeframe.

McGlone highlighted that gold, as a safe haven asset, is perceived much more favorably compared to virtual assets like Bitcoin. He explained, "Currently, there are approximately 16 million unregulated virtual assets listed on CoinMarketCap," and "this could indicate the limitations in price perception due to the speculative nature and volatility of these virtual assets."
