The key figure in a series of rapidly increasing virtual asset (cryptocurrency) kidnapping cases has been apprehended by the police.

According to local media on the 8th (local time), the Moroccan national police arrested Badis Mohamed Bazou, 24, in Tangier, a city in northern Morocco, on charges including arrest, kidnapping, and confinement.

This investigation reportedly followed a request from the French authorities. Gérald Darmanin, France's Minister of the Interior, said, "I sincerely thank Morocco," and added, "This demonstrates the judicial cooperation between our two countries against organized crime."

Bazou is suspected to be behind a series of virtual asset-targeted kidnapping cases, including the abduction of David Valin Léger, a founder, that occurred in France this January.
