Summary

  • Michael Saylor, CEO of Strategy, stated that there is no need to worry much about the possibility of Bitcoin being threatened by quantum computing.
  • He noted that since Bitcoin is software, it can be updated when necessary, and major institutions use the same cryptographic system, so they will respond jointly to quantum threats.
  • Saylor also emphasized that the current, more significant security threat is phishing rather than quantum computing, and said there is no possibility all Bitcoin would be hacked overnight.

Michael Saylor, the CEO of Strategy, took an optimistic stance on quantum computing, a cutting-edge technology known to potentially threaten Bitcoin (BTC).

According to CoinDesk, a media outlet specializing in virtual assets (cryptocurrencies), Saylor recently stated in an interview with CNBC that there is "no need to worry much" about quantum computers.

Saylor explained that "Bitcoin can be updated if necessary since it is software," adding, "Additionally, Google, Microsoft, the United States Government, and others also use the same cryptographic systems, so they will jointly respond to quantum threats."

He dismissed concerns by saying, "Today, the greater security threat is not quantum computing, but phishing attacks," and emphasized, "There is no chance that all Bitcoin would be hacked overnight."
