On the 15th (local time), before leaving the White House to attend the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Canada, President Trump met with the press and said, "I hope that an (Israel-Iran ceasefire) agreement will be reached. I think it's time to negotiate," but also added, "Sometimes countries have to fight it out first to resolve things."

He continued, "Let's see what happens," and added, "I think it is a good time for negotiations."

When asked, "Did you ask Israel to halt its air strikes against Iran?" President Trump replied, "I don't want to comment on that," declining to answer directly.

Additionally, President Trump stated he would continue to support the defense of Israel, a key ally in the Middle East, against retaliatory air strikes by Iran and other threats.

Meanwhile, when asked at the G7 summit whether significant trade deals could be announced, President Trump said, "We have very good deals," and "All we have to do is send a letter, which is what you have to pay for." He added, "However, I think we can reach some new trade agreements."
