Summary

  • President Donald Trump stated that his promise of crypto-friendly policies helped him win over voters.
  • Republican Party strategist Chris LaCivita conveyed that crypto voters contributed to support from groups that traditionally did not vote for the Republican Party's candidate.
  • LaCivita emphasized that crypto served as a bridge between the Republican Party and African Americans, Asian Americans, and young people.

During last year's presidential election, Donald Trump secured his inauguration by pledging crypto-friendly policies, and opinions have emerged that this strategy actually helped secure voters.

On the 15th (local time), according to the crypto-specialized media Decrypt, Republican Party strategist Chris LaCivita attended the Coinbase State of Crypto Summit held in New York City and said, "Targeting crypto voters helped President Trump win the support of many followers," adding, "In particular, he succeeded in flipping the minds of groups that were found to be unlikely to vote for the Republican Party's candidate."

Indeed, during the last presidential campaign, President Trump made crypto-friendly remarks such as "I am the crypto president" and "I will strategically stockpile Bitcoin."

LaCivita emphasized, "What we found is that crypto voters span a very wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds and are a group up for grabs in the scramble for votes," and "Crypto acted as a bridge connecting the Republican Party with African Americans, Asian Americans, and young people."

In fact, according to a report released last year by Pew Research, the proportions of African American and Asian American adults who hold crypto were 20% and 28%, respectively, significantly higher than that of White adults (4%).

LaCivita said, "Over the past few years, the Republican Party has failed to gain the support of African Americans and Asian Americans," adding, "We thought we could encourage their participation through crypto."
