However, the day before, President Lee Jae-myung decided not to attend the NATO summit. The government originally prepared for President Lee’s attendance, but after unforeseen developments such as the United States’ strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, the plan was reportedly changed.
Presidential spokesperson Kang Yoo-jung stated in a written briefing the previous day, "The government had been actively considering President Lee’s attendance at the NATO summit, but due to various domestic issues and uncertainties in the Middle East situation, decided that the president would not attend in person."
