Summary

  • Robinhood stated that they are indirectly holding OpenAI shares through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) on their tokenized stock platform.
  • It was explained that investors can invest in the OpenAI stake held by this SPV via tokenized stocks.
  • OpenAI responded that the mentioned token does not represent an OpenAI stake, and stated that there is no partnership with Robinhood.

Recently, Robinhood—who experienced some turmoil regarding their tokenized stock platform products—came forward to clarify the situation.

According to Odaily on the 7th (KST), Robinhood stated, "Shares of OpenAI are being held indirectly through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), allowing investors to invest in these shares via tokenized stocks."

This statement comes amid controversy regarding the OpenAI Token launched on Robinhood’s tokenized stock platform.

OpenAI immediately refuted Robinhood's launch of the OpenAI Token. OpenAI stated, "The OpenAI Token is not a share in OpenAI," and further clarified, "We have never collaborated with Robinhood, have not been involved in this matter, and do not endorse it."
