President Trump held a Q&A session with reporters at Andrews Joint Base that day. He said, "South Korea wants to conclude an agreement," adding, "As you know, South Korea is paying significant tariffs."

He also stated, "The EU wants to open its own market," and, "Japan's market opening is much more limited. As you know, while Japan sells millions of cars to us from the United States, they do not accept our cars, so we do not sell cars in Japan."
