According to Bitcoin Archive on the 4th (KST), James Howells is ending the search for the hard drive containing 8,000 Bitcoins as of today.
As of 12:17 p.m. that day, Bitcoin was up 1.12% from the previous day at $114,712, bringing the value of the Bitcoins stored on the hard drive to about $920,000,000 (around ₩1.3 trillion).
Howells accidentally threw away the hard drive in 2013 at Docks Way Landfill in Newport, Wales, United Kingdom. Over the past 10 years, he requested the city council of Newport to retrieve the hard drive, but reportedly was ignored.
UK authorities plan to close the site next year and build a solar power plant.
