The man who lost a hard drive containing 8,000 Bitcoins (BTC) is moving to maintain ownership through tokenization.

According to cryptocurrency-focused media outlet The Block on the 5th (KST), James Howells announced that instead of continuing to search the landfill, he would tokenize the ownership rights to the lost hard drive.

Howells had attempted to recover the hard drive from the Newport landfill over the past 12 years after losing it in 2013, but recently gave up the effort.

Instead, Howells claims he is the legal owner of the Bitcoins and plans to issue a Bitcoin Layer 2-based token, 'Seiniog (INI)', based on these rights. A coin offering (ICO) is also being pursued within the year.
