According to cryptocurrency specialist media outlet Cointelegraph on the 16th (Korean time), Ronin stated on its official blog that it plans to transition to an Ethereum Layer 2 network. Ronin was separated from Ethereum mainnet in 2021 to facilitate smooth transactions for Axie Infinity and has since operated as an independent Layer 1 chain.
This transition will proceed in two stages. In the first stage, the plan will be shared with members of the Ronin network community and a related vote will be held. In the second stage, the transition to Ethereum Layer 2 will be completed by the second quarter of 2026, reflecting the results of the vote.
The Ronin team said, "Ethereum's transaction speed and fees have significantly improved, and it has succeeded in attracting Wall Street capital and attention," adding that "this was a key factor in the decision to return."
