Over 10,000 Domestic 'Big Investors' Hold More Than ₩1 Billion in Crypto…Average Holdings: ₩2.2 Billion

It has been revealed that the number of investors owning more than ₩1 billion in crypto assets (cryptocurrencies) in Korea has exceeded 10,000.

According to materials submitted by the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) to Seong-Hun Park from the People Power Party (PPP) on the 24th (local time), as of the 5th of this month, there were 10,810 investors holding more than ₩1 billion in crypto assets.

The average amount of crypto assets held per person at the country's five major exchanges (Upbit, Bithumb, Coinone, Korbit, GOPAX) is ₩2,228,890,000, which is over 200 times the average amount among ordinary investors (₩10,270,000).

By age group, those in their 50s topped the list with 3,994 individuals holding more than ₩1 billion, followed by those in their 40s with 3,086, those aged 60 and older with 2,426, and those in their 30s with 1,167. There were only 137 people in their 20s, the lowest, but their average holdings per person were the highest at ₩2,688,710,000.
