Stablecoin issuer Tether (USDT) has withdrawn its plan to freeze USDT smart contracts on 5 blockchains.

On the 30th (local time), according to Cointelegraph, Tether withdrew its plan the day before to freeze USDT smart contracts on Omni Layer, Bitcoin Cash SLP, Kusama, EOS, and Algorand.

However, Tether emphasized that new issuance and redemptions on these chains will be suspended. Technically tokens can be moved, but they will not be treated as officially supported Tether tokens.

Originally Tether planned to end support and freeze smart contracts on these chains as of September 1, but it is interpreted that the policy was revised following community backlash.
