U.S. President Donald Trump mentioned three candidates he is considering as successors to Jerome Powell as chair of the Federal Reserve (Fed).

On the 6th (local time), according to U.S. political outlet The Hill, Trump named Kevin Hassett, chairman of the White House National Economic Council (NEC); Kevin Warsh, former Fed governor; and Christopher Waller, Fed governor, as the three leading candidates for Fed chair.

Regarding Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent being excluded from the candidates, Trump said, "He was excluded because he is satisfied with his current post."
