Eric Trump, the second son of U.S. President Donald Trump, said digital assets are a true means of financial freedom and that South Korea should actively embrace them like the United States.

In his keynote speech at 'Upbit D Conference 2025 (UDC 2025)' held on the 9th at the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Eric Trump said, "Digital assets are not simply financial instruments but a means to preserve freedom and resilience. I wanted true financial freedom. The essence of digital assets is to prevent banks from operating assets at will."

He argued that with the emergence of stablecoins, ultra-fast, low-cost international payments became possible without going through the SWIFT network, and that this is an inevitable change whether traditional finance accepts it or not.

At the event, he also revealed the background of why the Trump family began to take a serious interest in digital assets. Eric Trump said, "I was the first person in the Trump family to take crypto seriously. Feeling the limitations of traditional finance, I began to delve into blockchain and digital assets." He explained that President Trump later developed greater affection after attending a Bitcoin conference in Nashville and receiving cheers from the audience.

Regarding South Korea and the Asian market, he said, "South Korea is one of the countries doing well in Asia," while adding, "the will of the government and policy decisions are important." He went on to stress, "Countries that accept crypto will win, and countries that reject it will fall behind. South Korea must actively enter and compete like the United States," he emphasized.
