On the 9th (Korean time), Changpeng Zhao, founder of Binance, emphasized on X (formerly Twitter) that "Currently even open-source software is not safe" and that "Web3 will redefine Web2's security."
Changpeng Zhao's remarks came in response to the hacking of a well-known developer's NPM (Node Package Manager) account that occurred that day. According to security firm Security Alliance (SEAL), the developer's NPM account was hacked that day, and malicious code was inserted into popular JavaScript libraries.
Those libraries had over 1 billion cumulative downloads, and many crypto asset projects could have been exposed to risk.
