Summary

  • PumpFun announced that it has entered the live streaming market as a Solana (SOL)-based memecoin launchpad.
  • Alon Cohen, co‑founder of PumpFun, said it surpassed Rumble and reached about 1% of Twitch's channel count and 10% of Kick's.
  • It emphasized immediate commission payments to streamers and up to 100x earnings, but some raised concerns about short-term pump-and-dump.

The Solana (SOL)-based memecoin launchpad PumpFun (PUMP) has thrown down the gauntlet to the live streaming market.

On the 14th (local time), according to Cryptopolitan, a media outlet specialized in virtual assets (cryptocurrencies), Alon Cohen, co‑founder of PumpFun, said on X (formerly Twitter), "We have beaten Rumble in average concurrent broadcast channel count," and added, "Currently PumpFun's channel count has reached about 1% of Twitch and 10% of Kick."

PumpFun recently fully reopened its streaming feature, which had been temporarily suspended. PumpFun is drawing in streamers by emphasizing immediate commission payments to streamers and up to 100x earnings compared to other platforms.

However, there are negative opinions about PumpFun's streaming service. Bob Bodley, founder of OdinFun, pointed out, "Rewards based on token trading volume could cause short-term pump-and-dump (a tactic of promoting a token to induce a price increase and then passing it to other investors)."
