Summary

  • Grayscale said it moved 210,000 Ethereum to a new wallet.
  • The industry raised the possibility of preparations for staking of a spot Ethereum ETF.
  • Although staking is not yet allowed in the U.S., analysis suggests Grayscale is preparing proactively.

Digital asset (cryptocurrency) asset manager Grayscale transferred a large amount of Ethereum (ETH) attributed to its exchange-traded fund (ETF) to a new address. This has led some to speculate that Grayscale may be preparing a new spot Ethereum ETF that allows staking.

On the 17th (Korean time), on-chain analyst EmberCN reported, "About 3 hours ago, 214,400 Ethereum were moved from the Grayscale ETH Mini Trust (ticker ETH) to a new wallet."

Regarding this, EmberCN explained, "It appears Grayscale is preparing staking for a new spot Ethereum ETF," and added, "The United States has not allowed staking of spot Ethereum ETFs, but it is speculated they are preparing in advance."
