The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) of the UK will allow retail investors to trade crypto asset exchange-traded notes (ETNs) from October.

On the 4th (local time), Cointelegraph reported that the FCA said in a notice it plans to allow retail investors to access crypto asset ETNs only if they are traded on approved UK trading venues. The ban on retail investors introduced in 2019 is being lifted after six years.

However, crypto asset exchange-traded funds (ETFs) remain banned for retail investors. Meanwhile, following this regulatory change, global asset manager BlackRock is reportedly considering offering an iShares Bitcoin product to UK retail investors.
