The Swiss gambling regulator is reviewing whether the 'Right-to-Buy' token issued by FIFA ahead of the 2026 World Cup violates current gambling regulations.
On the 7th (local time), Cointelegraph reported that the Swiss gambling supervisory authority (Gespa) has launched an investigation to determine whether the token, which can be bought and sold on FIFA's NFT marketplace, constitutes a "gambling product" or can be regarded as a "conditional purchase right."
Manuel Rischard, director of Gespa, said, "So far no illegal activity has been found, and no related complaints have been received," adding, "We will ascertain the facts and review the need for further action."
