U.S. and China held working-level consultations on Monday

On the 14th (Korea time), according to the economic breaking-news channel Walter Bloomberg, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said it had notified the United States in advance about the rare earths export control measures, and that the two countries had conducted working-level consultations the previous day.

However, the Ministry of Commerce also criticized the U.S. attitude. A ministry spokesman criticized, "The United States is demanding dialogue while at the same time threatening and imposing new sanctions," and urged the United States to correct its actions and show sincerity.

Also, the ministry spokesman said, "Looking back at the United States, it has long generalized national security, abused export controls, and treated China discriminatorily," adding, "In particular, a series of U.S. additional measures restricting China since the U.S.-China Madrid economic and trade talks have seriously damaged China's interests and the atmosphere of the bilateral talks, and China firmly opposes this."

The spokesman continued, "If we are to fight, we will fight to the end, and if we are to talk, the door is wide open," adding, "China urges the United States to promptly correct its wrongful actions and show sincerity in dialogue."

It was reported that the two countries are continuing to maintain contact through existing trade consultation channels.
