Summary

  • Astra Nova (RVV) reported that about 10 million dollars in damage occurred immediately after the token launch due to a market maker account hack.
  • The hacker dumped 8.6% of the RVV token supply on the market, causing the RVV token price to plummet.
  • Astra Nova said it will repurchase the leaked tokens on the market and pay a 10% bounty if the funds are returned.

The new artificial intelligence (AI) virtual asset (cryptocurrency) project Astra Nova (RVV) was embroiled in a hacking incident as soon as the token was launched.

On the 20th (Korean time), crypto outlet The Block, citing data from blockchain analyst Amber CN, reported that the hacker dumped 8.6% of the RVV token supply — 860,000,000 tokens — on the market and took about 10.2 million dollars in Tether (USDT). As a large amount of tokens was sold on the market at once, the RVV token price momentarily fell from 0.028 dollars to 0.07 dollars.

Currently the hacker has transferred 8,226,000 dollars of the stolen funds to crypto exchange KuCoin, and left the remaining 2,041,000 dollars in a wallet.

Astra Nova said of the incident, "A third-party market maker account was compromised and a malicious actor sold assets," adding, "The smart contract is secure, and we will pass the case to law enforcement through on-chain forensics." It also said, "We will repurchase the leaked token amount on the open market, and if the stolen funds are returned we will pay a 10 % bounty."
