On the 26th (Korea time), visiting Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where the ASEAN summit was being held, President Trump told reporters in a Q&A, "We will meet President Xi in South Korea," and said, "We are currently negotiating with China, and we could reach a good agreement with China."

He added, "China wants an agreement, and we want an agreement," and, "I expect we can have a very fair meeting."

He also hinted at the possibility of additional talks. President Trump said, "I will meet with President Xi in South Korea, in China, and also in the United States (Washington D.C., Mar-a-Lago)."
