Eleanor Terrett, a Fox Business reporter, stated on the 10th (local time) via X (formerly Twitter) that "there are many questions about the confirmation timing of Paul Atkins, nominated by President Donald Trump as the next Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)." She noted, "There are dozens of new administration nominees who need Senate confirmation, and typically, cabinet confirmations are prioritized. Currently, there are nine cabinet positions requiring a vote." She continued, "The hearing for Paul Atkins is expected to be conducted by the U.S. Senate Banking Committee," adding, "The schedule is still undecided, and if it passes the committee, a full Senate vote is likely to follow." Furthermore, she explained, "In the case of Gary Gensler, he was nominated by President Joe Biden in January 2021, and his Senate confirmation was finalized in April. His predecessor, Jay Clayton, was nominated by President Trump in January 2017 and confirmed in May."
