The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has recorded the highest level of fines and investor protection measures in its history.

According to Bloomberg on the 4th (local time), the CFTC's fiscal year 2024 fines and regulatory collections amounted to $17.1 billion. Of this, $14.5 billion was from settlements and awards, while the remaining $2.6 billion came from civil penalties.

The largest settlements and collections were related to the bankruptcy of the virtual asset exchange FTX and its affiliate Alameda Research. These companies were responsible for $8.7 billion in settlements and $4 billion in collections. This was noted as the largest settlement in CFTC history.

Additionally, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao also agreed to a settlement of $285 million with the CFTC.
