Summary

  • The decline in the number of developers is reported as a substantial threat to the virtual asset industry.
  • Although the future outlook has worsened compared to the past, the use case and acceptance of Bitcoin remain positive.
  • It is predicted that Bitcoin could reach $1 million per coin by 2035.

Recently, amidst the overall bearish trend in the virtual asset (cryptocurrency) market due to the U.S. tariff policy, a more substantial risk to the virtual asset industry has been identified as the decline in developers.

On the 8th (local time), renowned virtual asset trader Eugene stated on his Telegram channel, "The introduction of global trade tariffs signifies a change in the world order not seen in over 50 years," adding, "The shift from openness to protectionism will have serious impacts, and these effects will gradually manifest over the years unless President Trump completely abandons his tariff plans." He further added, "It will cause significant long-term resistance to global risk assets."

However, he emphasized that a more concerning issue for the virtual asset industry is the decrease in the number of developers. Eugene said, "The virtual asset industry has recently seen a decline in active developers," and noted, "This is the most concerning." He continued, "During the last cycle, we witnessed active development, and while I expect our industry to remain long-term positive," he also conveyed, "However, 2-3 years later, not only have we failed to produce anything particularly interesting or significant, but the future outlook is worse than it was back then."

Nevertheless, he maintained a positive outlook on Bitcoin (BTC). Eugene stated, "The use case and global acceptance of Bitcoin are stronger than ever," and predicted, "It will continue to accumulate and yield good returns, and I believe Bitcoin can reach $1 million per coin by 2035."
