"EVM Sidechains to Be the Key to XRP Ledger Ecosystem Expansion" [APEX 2025]

There was an opinion that EVM sidechains will play a decisive role in the expansion of the XRP Ledger (XRPL) ecosystem.

EVM sidechains are sidechains that introduce Ethereum (ETH) smart contract functionality to the XRP Ledger, providing a space where developers can easily build applications equipped with interoperability between various blockchains.

GM Dragonfly Partner explained at 'APEX 2025' held in Singapore on the 11th (local time), “(Personally) the part I’m most looking forward to in the XRP Ledger is the EVM sidechain,” adding, “EVM sidechains can serve as a gateway to attract Solidity (Ethereum’s development language) developers and capital into the XRPL ecosystem.”

GM also shared insights into how venture capitalists (VCs) have recently been viewing the virtual asset market. He said, “From a VC’s perspective, now is the best time to start a virtual asset business,” and added, “The regulatory environment is much clearer now than it was a few years ago, and even outside of the United States, countries like Singapore and some other Asian nations now offer environments where founders can actually build products.”

However, GM emphasized that ‘execution’ of projects will be the key to success, differing from the past. He said, “In the old days, just having a good idea could attract a large amount of investment,” but stressed, “Now, a real revenue model and clear product-market fit are necessary.” He continued, “For example, Hyperliquid (HYPE) is a simple exchange, but generates annual revenues of millions of dollars and uses most of the profits for token buybacks and burns,” adding, “A clearly defined business structure is necessary to attract investors.”
