[Breaking News] Democratic Party of Korea "Vote on Yoon's Impeachment Motion Scheduled for 5 PM Tomorrow"
The Democratic Party of Korea has decided to move up the vote on President Yoon Suk-yeol's impeachment motion to 5 PM, two hours earlier than initially planned, at the National Assembly plenary session on the 7th. Park Sung-joon, the senior deputy floor leader, told reporters at the National Assembly on the 6th, "The Democratic Party of Korea believes that the plenary session should be held for a vote at 5 PM on the 7th." He explained, "Considering the various debates and the possibility of significant delay tactics by the People Power Party to obstruct the impeachment vote, many opinions suggested it would be better to allow some leeway in time." Previously, the Democratic Party of Korea reported the impeachment motion against President Yoon to the National Assembly plenary session at 12:48 AM on the 5th. Since the vote must take place within 72 hours after 24 hours from the report to the plenary session, it can be held from around 12:48 AM on the 6th to around 12:48 AM on the 8th. He also mentioned that the voting time could be moved up further depending on changes in the People Power Party's stance. Park, the senior deputy floor leader, said, "5 PM tomorrow is the current schedule, and if there are any changes, an emergency plenary session could be convened." Shin Hyun-bo, Hankyung.com reporter
