Tether (USDT)'s cross-chain (multi-chain) version stablecoin, USDT0, announced on the 16th that USDT0 will be integrated into the Bitcoin (BTC) sidechain, Rootstock. This is the first time that USDT0 is being introduced to a Bitcoin Layer 2 solution through Rootstock.

USDT0 is a multi-chain stablecoin released by Tether to improve the efficiency and security of cross-chain liquidity management, and it is based on the LayerZero OFT (Omnichain Fungible Token) standard. Notably, on the Ethereum (ETH) network, USDT0 is backed 1:1 by the value of USDT.

Rootstock is a DeFi (Decentralized Finance) platform based on Bitcoin. With this integration, Rootstock users will be able to indirectly access USDT through USDT0. This is expected to result in effects such as ▲integrated liquidity management ▲streamlined on-ramping ▲enhanced trading experience ▲support for modular infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Rootstock has recently been expanding its ecosystem by announcing various partnerships, including its integration with Solve Protocol. It has also established partnerships with the omnichain messaging protocol LayerZero and the cross-chain bridge Stargate, providing users with bridge functionality across more than 20 major blockchains such as Base (BASE), Arbitrum (ARB), Ethereum, and Solana (SOL).

Lorenzo R, USDT0 Co-Founder, stated, "By introducing USDT0 to Rootstock, we have greatly simplified the process for users to move stable value into Bitcoin-based applications," adding, "going forward, developers and users will be able to access the most popular stablecoin seamlessly—without the inconvenience of wrapped assets or fragmented liquidity."
