Could Ethereum ETF Staking Emerge…Grayscale Urges SEC to Approve Staking

Discussions regarding the Ethereum (ETH) spot exchange-traded fund (ETF), expected to play a game-changing role, have reportedly taken place.

On the 27th (local time), according to Bitcoin.com News, Grayscale Investments held a meeting with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)'s virtual asset (cryptocurrency) task force (TF) in Washington D.C. on the 21st, requesting changes to the staking regulations of the Ethereum spot ETF.

According to the disclosed meeting summary memo, Grayscale proposed a plan to amend the review request documents (19b-4) for the Grayscale Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHE) and the Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust ETF (ETH).

Specifically, in the document, Grayscale argued that "because Ethereum exchange-traded products (ETP) have not been able to participate in staking so far, there has been a loss amounting to $61 million," and that "this loss has gone entirely to Ethereum ETPs from Europe, Canada, and other regions, not the United States."

Furthermore, Grayscale explained that "staking of the Ethereum spot ETF can enhance the security of the Ethereum network while also bringing additional revenue to shareholders," and that "through staking, U.S. Ethereum ETF products can participate as transaction validators on the Ethereum network."

Meanwhile, on the 14th, the SEC had previously postponed the review decision on the 'staking feature' included in the Ethereum spot ETF applied by Grayscale.
