CME Group said on the 2nd (local time) that "it will support 24/7, 24-hour cryptocurrency futures and options trading starting early next year." CME Group plans to support 24-hour cryptocurrency futures and options trading on CME Globex. A CME Group official said, "Trades during all holidays and weekends will be executed on the next business day," and "clearing and settlement will also be processed on the next business day."
There are also expectations that additional institutional investors may flow in. CoinDesk said, "This move could be attractive to institutions that want the stability of regulated exchanges," and "if CME's 24-hour trading (of cryptocurrency futures and options) is approved, it could gain an advantage over overseas platforms that are vulnerable in terms of regulatory compliance."
